Monthly Check-Up Checklist

This is the checklist used for each of our monthly check-ups (regardless of your plan)

Definitions

MoD = Manager on Duty

Updates

Check for updates to OS, PoS, CRM, & any other software used. Apply neccessary updates. Confirm questions & software usage with MoD.

Antivirus & Malware

Verify antivirus software is active, updated, and has completed recent scans. Review scan logs for any detected threats. Ensure real-time protection is enabled.

Run Antivirus / Malware tool to confirm installed software is working properly.

Installed Software

Scan for installed software list, isolate suspicious applications. Remove any software that violates company policy or poses security risks. Confirm with MoD.

Firewall & Security

Inspect firewall configuration to ensure they are active and properly set up. Check for unauthorized changes and verify that only necessary ports are open.

Hardware Condition

Physically examine device for sign of wear, overheating, or failure. Clean dust form vents & check that cooling systems are functioning.

User Access & Permissions

Audit user accounts to ensure employees only have needed access. Remove or disable accounts for former staff. Confirm staff list with MoD.

Network Performance & Security

Measure network speed & stability. Check for unauthorized devices on the network. Ensure Wi-Fi encryption (WPA3 or WPA2) is enabled & passwords are sufficiently strong.

Cloud Service Synchronization

Ensure that cloud services (e.g. email, file storage, CRM, backups) are syncing properly. Check for errors or account access issues.

Disaster Recovery Readiness

Review current disaster recovery plan. Evaluate its viability. Recommend improvements as needed. Update documentation to reflect current configurations.

On-Site

Document all changes, issues, and current states of appropriate lists and information.

Off-Site

Compile all information and send report to owner / representative.
